Spare room Green feature wall

You might be thinking “but you only renovated your spare room last year!” and yeah, you’d be right, but all wasn’t as it seemed. There was a damp and splodgey chimney breast that I’d managed to edit out of the reveal photos in the hope that it would dry out on it’s own… but obviously it didn’t.

The damn splodges covered the chimney breast and the recess wall attached. Not exactly photo worthy!

I’ve been swatching tester pots all over the wall for a good few months while we tried (and hopefully succeeded) fixing the chimney. My dad coated the chimney in a water repellent type solution which seems to have done the job. I used Zinsser stain block to cover the splodges from the inside, and again, that seems to have done the job really well.

So, onto the mini makeover.

I decided to go for a deep green feature wall (a Valspar colour match of Farrow and Balls Green Smoke) because I thought it would go really well with the peachy pink colour of the remaining unaffected walls. I’m in love. I keep going up just to stare at it… you might think that’s sad, but I don’t care!

The bed also needed replacing as it didn’t quite make the many moves and reassembles as part of the renovation, the legs weren’t anywhere near as sturdy as they were supposed to be. I went with the Edmonton from Wayfair for around £100, which I didn’t think was too bad! It’s a pine frame with a horizontal strip headboard and feels a lot better quality than the old IKEA one already!

So yeah, that’s my spare room green feature wall update – what do you think?!
