Trying new Beauty Brands

I’m always on the look out for my next favourite beauty product to lust over, so when HQHair got in touch to see if I wanted to pick myself some of their products* I decided to go with brands I’d never tried before. This is obviously a risk, but I went for products I’d heard great things about, to see if they worked as well for me. I’d forgive you for thinking that with a name like HQHair, they only sell hair things, but they sell so much more than that! Haircare-wise they stock amazing brands like Kerastase, Christophe Robin & Tigi and Hair tool brands like Babyliss Pro, Cloud Nine & GHD. They also have a huge range of skincare, bath & body, fragrance, healthy living products and supplements and makeup – obviously I went with the makeup… Cause I clearly need more…

So on to the products I chose…

I’ve had my eye on the Nude Dude eyeshadow palette for a while now but I’d never tried any of The Balm products before so never could convince myself to take the plunge. I’m a sucker for a warm smokey eye so this was a really obvious choice for me. I always use a darker shadow instead of eyeliner to smoke out my top lash line, I find it much more natural and is sooo much easier, no winged liner struggles for me! The shade ‘Friendly’ is officially my new favourite top lash shadow liner! It’s a really dark purple, but not a obvious purple, if that makes sense? I really like the shade ‘Fiesty’ for smoking out my outer corner, with shade ‘Firm’ covering the rest of my lid. I’ve had it on all day and there’s no creasing, and the pigmentation is still as vibrant as it was when I put it on and there was no fall out. I’m really impressed! I think it’d be perfect for date nights, night outs and just general day wearing, it’s really versatile, you can create so many looks with this lustworthy palette.

The next product I chose was a less exciting one.. Lip Balm. I don’t know about you, but my lips get ridiculously dry in the Winter months, and cause I knew I was going to treat myself to a new Liquid Lipstick *spoiler alert*, I thought it was about time I tried a new brand to help nourish my lips.  I’ve always just bought the really cheap lip balms, but cause they’re really cheap, they never work, so I went for the Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm. I’ve always heard such good things about Burt’s Bees, so I was quietly confident that this’d do the trick – and I was right! I’ve been using it for the last week, slathering it on before I go to bed and while I’m applying my makeup on a morning. I take it off before I do my lipstick, just because I think it changes the pigmentation of my lipstick if there’s something under it. My lips are so much softer, and the cracks have completely disappeared!

Stila is a brand I’ve never tried, and I’m really not sure why… I’ve heard amazing things about their Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks and it’s completely justified! I chose the shade Biscotti, a 90’s browny nude shade, probably a little darker on my lips than I anticipated, but I actually really love it. I always fully colour in my lips with a nude lip liner before adding any lipstick product, I find that every product goes on a lot smoother, and there’s never any patchy parts, where my natural lip colour is showing through. It’s so comfortable to wear, and it’s lasted through 2 drinks, a meal and tidying my house without budging at all, which I think is pretty damn impressive. I’ll definitely be treating myself to some of their other shades – cause I can never have enough Liquid Lipsticks! Oh, and I might be going crazy, but I think it smells of biscuits!

I’ve always wanted to try the Balm palettes, but they remind me so much of the Naked 3 palette which I already have. The liquid lipstick looks great on you!
