TRY TUESDAY

Ever felt like you had nothing you loved in your wardrobe? Like you had all the pieces, just didn’t know how to put them all together? Try Tuesday, the new styling service from the genius’ at Marks & Spencers. It’s an online service, so don’t worry about feeling overwhelmed in a dressing room, you can peruse all of the styled outfits from the comfort of your own home.

So how does it work? Sign up on here and go through the style questionnaire – they ask you things like: what colours don’t you like wearing? What do you prefer to cover up? How would you describe your style? Do you want a complete style overhaul, or just help with styling a few outfits? If you struggle with describing your style, there’s some great fashion photos to help you out.

After you’ve filled everything in, they assign you a stylist, a real person, who’s job it is to help you with your style. It’s worth pointing out that this is a completely free service too, something that’s a bit rare these days! After a few days, you receive an email from your stylist, telling you that you’re style picks are ready. You then have the opportunity to review the outfits they’ve chosen for you, you can say if you like them, if you have something similar already or if it’s really not for you – it helps them to understand your style, and how they can work new bits into your existing wardrobe.

I thought I’d show a little screenshot of how it works so you can get a better idea. So, you’ll get the general ‘theme’ of each outfit, with the pieces used to make up the outfit. I’ve been hunting for a classic trench coat for a while now and was really excited to see one included in this Laid Back Luxe outfit.

I have a few of the other pieces that make up the outfit, so I knew that I’d be able to style it with what was already in my wardrobe. You can click through on each product and it will take you to that specific page on the M&S website (so you don’t have to go trawling through to find each product). I thought I’d have a look through and see what other trench coats they had, and decided to go for this one* instead. I liked how it was a bit more oversized and casual, something I knew would be able to fit in with my style. I also love the navy and red checked lining, it’s a lovely extra detail to make it stand out from all the other trench coats on the highstreet. The khaki jumper* under the coat was an item I’d seen from another outfit, I didn’t have anything this colour and thought it would go really well with the colour of the trench coat. I wore this outfit yesterday and felt really confident – and that’s basically what Tuesday is for!

You won’t see many outfit photos of me, I don’t have anyone to take photos, so please excuse the slightly odd angles from the tripod!

Obviously with it being a Marks & Spencers service, they only recommend Marks & Spencers products and I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all. M&S do so many amazing pieces, they’ve had their fair share of cult items over the last year or two, those amazing jumpers with the fluted sleeves from last winter and the beautiful constellation dress that’s been all over the press this summer. There’s no expectation that you’ll buy whatever they suggest, it really is just a friendly service to give you a bit more confidence in your style. You can choose different occasions too, so if you’re looking for something to wear for your office Christmas party, this could definitely be a great shout for some inspiration! I really can’t recommend Tuesday enough, give it a go for yourself and jazz your wardrobe up.
