This might be a 2 or 3 parter…. because I seem to have a thing about console tables (a previous one linked here). The console table in this post was a boxing day sale bargain from Wayfair and I’m so so pleased with it! It also comes in white if that’s more of the style you’re going for, but black was beyond perfect for my living room. It has a full black top, with a glass shelf underneath that makes it appear much more expensive than it actually is – I paid £106 but it’s gone back up in price a little bit – but again, still a bargain for the quality and style.
Now let’s get into the post – simple console table styling:
My interior style is quite simple when it comes to styling – less is more and all that (but I am partial to being obsessed with some maximalist styling from afar) so for me, the styling of console tables is always about picking out a few key pieces that will make the vignette feel a bit more ‘thought out’… even if it’s not!
Pampas is still a huge trend in interiors (despite it’s er….amorous connotations…) and I picked mine up from a seller on ebay (linked here if you’re in the market – I paid around £17 and you get 2 bunches of 10) and put 1 bunch in this amber tone glass vase from Next purchased earlier in the year.
Just a note to say that it definitely works better in vases with small necks as it makes the arrangement look a lot fuller – I have some in a taller cylindrical vase on my fireplace and it just doesn’t have the same effect!
The brass lamp, I picked up from Bargain Corner at IKEA yesterday for £7 – including the bulb! It’s linked here and gives off a beautifully cosy light with this filament bulb.
The book was a Christmas present from my sister and is full of the most beautiful interior photography I’ve ever seen – it’s linked here if you’re a fan of beautiful coffee table/ console table books like I am.
The solid marble tissue box was actually from Sainsburys, and I’m just a little bit in love with it…. is that weird? The brass feather dish was a giveaway prize I won from Cottingley Furnishers and I think it adds some lovely texture to the more minimalist set up.
The canvas was actually something I did with some leftover paint samples (green and black) and some gold paint – I bought a really cheap 90x90cm canvas from B&Q and painted over it without much thought or plan – I think it turned out ok!
So that’s the first of my simple console table styling posts – what do you think?
