The loft space is the first room we’re tackling and we’re probably about half way through – there’s been a lot of filling, sanding, filling again, sanding again, priming – I’ve spent every night with a paint brush in my hand – I do not love painting. The previous owner hadn’t really done anything with it, it was an empty room both times I came to view the house and I knew that I wanted to convert it into a calm office space.
I say she’d done ‘nothing with it’ – there was a pretty spectacular woodland scene mural on the wall – there’ll be ‘before’ photos in the reveal post – you won’t want to miss it!
I’ll be moving my current bed up there (and getting a new one for my own bedroom) so that my friends have somewhere other than a blow up bed to sleep on when they come to visit. I’m going for earthy tones (you know I love them) with a Californian vibe.
I created the mock up below of the gallery wall I’ll be creating in the corner over the bed, which I’m really excited to make reality. All of the prints are from Desenio and you might want to check back for the ‘reveal’ post for a little something-something that might save you money on their beautiful prints.
The colour on the left hand side is the colour I’ve chosen for the walls – it’s Organza by B&Q. It’s really similar to Farrow & Balls Setting Plaster, which I love but it’s just so expensive! I’ve ordered a beautiful light beige coloured carpet which is being fitted next week so I need to get all the painting finished before then – wish me luck!
I’ll be moving my desk up from my old office space (currently using as my dressing table) which is this one from IKEA. It’s really useful storage, with a draw along the front and a shelved cupboard to the side. I just need to find myself a fancy chair to tuck into it!
As well as that, I’ll be bringing up my current bedside tables (malm) and stacking them in the corner for more useful storage and the 3 drawer Malm set I have in my current bedroom… so yeah, a lot of IKEA, but it means I can buy myself nicer, more ‘my style’ furniture for when we re-do my bedroom. I’ll be shopping my own house and styling up shelves and bringing some more warmth to the room. There are 3 velux windows which let in a huge amount of light and some pretty spectacular sunsets – I’m excited to be able to use it as a functional space!
There’s also an en-suite to this spare room/office space, but I’ll show that in a separate post because the reveal will be coming pretty soon!
