Trench Coats – you’ve probably heard of them… They’re a style staple for every woman, man… and the world. They’ve got the ability to add a touch of ‘chic’ to any outfit, tie together a multitude of styles and basically make you feel like you’ve got your shit together – who wouldn’t want a piece of that?! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have at least 2 in my collection, with the urge to add another 1 (or 3) whenever Coat season comes around (which is all the time in England).
You can literally add a Trench Coat to any outfit, and it will make you feel like you’re ready to take on the world. The style transcends all four seasons, I mean it has to, they’re pretty much all the same here anyway… but yeah. It’s a style that will never go out of fashion, so it’s definitely something you need to invest in if you haven’t already. With the modern adaptations coming into the high street at the moment, there’s a style for everyone, whether it’s a shorter length, swing shape or the original classic style, you could have one for every occasion! I definitely think the classic Trench Coat is underrated, they’re always on trend, they’re the easiest outerwear to style ever, and they’re just so chic and classic.
You can style them with a casual jeans & tshirt outfit, wear them over your smart work wear or over your favourite going out dress on an evening – the Trench Coat works with every outfit. Jack Wills has one of the best selections out there and they have a great ‘How to style a trench coat’ page on their website, with a bit about the history of the style and some top tips if you’re struggling with how to style it up – it’s worth checking out!
These are just some of my favourites from the Jack Wills collection, I love how essentially the same coat in a different colour, can look so different, and completely change the vibe of an outfit. I’m really into the shorter style trench coats at the moment, I think it’s my favourite ‘modern take’ on the classic, it just works so well with a casual outfit. My go-to style is jeans and a t-shirt, so this is the perfect style for me.
