I’m not a fan of Halloween at all, I don’t like scary films, I don’t particularly like dressing up and I don’t like anything pumpkin or spice flavoured. I’d much prefer to spend my October 31st snuggled under a blanket, eating yummy food and drinking a hot chocolate – so that’s what I’m going to do! My kitchen is in the middle of a pretty epic renovation at the moment, so say hello to another room in my parents house (you’re getting to see quite a bit of their house on here, but it’ll all be mine when the renovations are finished, I promise!)
Now, I would never say I was good at baking, but I enjoy doing it, so I’ve attempted to make Chocolate Meringue and Triple Chocolate Brownies with this shiny food mixer – Kitchen Aid style but for a fraction of the price (currently reduced from £179.99 to £59.99!). It comes with 3 attachments, a whisk, a dough hook and a cake beater and is available in quite a few different colours. It’s ridiculously easy to use, everything is labelled and I didn’t need to look at the instructions at all! I’ll include the recipes at the end of this post if you want to join in… well maybe wait till you see how it turns out first…
I also got a personalised oven glove to avoid the inevitable burns from getting too excited and grabbing things straight out of the oven. The quality is great and I think it’d make a really great Christmas or Birthday present for any baking/cooking lovers.
Here’s the end result.. presentation might not be perfect, but they taste pretty damn good, if I do say so myself!
And what better drink to go with gooey brownies and melt in the mouth meringues – a hot chocolate! In case you haven’t guessed by now, I’m a bit of a chocoholic… I say bit… I think I’m actually addicted – I blame my Mum eating 12 Easter eggs in a day when she was 8 months pregnant with me..
Can we just take a second to look at how cool this wood effect kettle is?! I mean… I know it’s not for everyone, but it matches the pans I got from Studio back in May and will look so cute in my new kitchen… which is getting fitted today!
So yeah, that’s how I’m planning to avoid Halloween… eating all of the sugar and being a ball of cosy. The recipes I used are here: Triple Chocolate Brownies and Chocolate Swirl Meringue.

We try to avoid Halloween too! Found your site looking for midnight blue cabinet ideas. I’m going to go for it! I want to love my kitchen too, and that means making some changes. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep baking! Amy

Good luck with the renovation! If I had a bigger kitchen I would have definitely gone to the dark side!

It’s so true that not everybody loves Halloween that much!! Love seeing how other people plan to tone it down … and those meringues look delish! Xx
