It was 4 degrees in my car earlier in the week and although I do love winter (mainly for the snuggly nights), I wasn’t prepared for it to get that cold so early into Autumn! As I’m writing this, I’m sipping on my first hot chocolate of the season, so yeah, I’m fully embracing it. It’s that time of year that it gets a little bit (a lot) harder to get out of your cosy bed each morning. With that said, I do try to make my bed even more cosy at this time of year, mainly because I get into bed earlier on an evening to keep warm, but also to make the most of all of the new Autumn/Winter homeware ranges.
So here’s my ‘cosy corner’ – the area of my temporary bedroom that I want to be in as soon as I get home from work (and while I’m at work, if I’m honest).
Faux fur throws are an absolute must-have when it comes to combating the colder weather and this one is probably the snuggliest thing I’ve ever wrapped myself up in. It’s got a super soft lining, with a beautiful ombre effect on the ‘fur’. It’s perfect for wrapping up in to watch Netflix (anyone else obsessed with Killing Eve?!) and settling down for the evening. I’ve got a feeling it’ll be moving around the house, wherever I am, the throw will be there.
I also picked up some velvet cushions for the bed in a ‘latte’ colour. I’m all about the brown tones in this room and the velvet adds more texture and elegance to the space. They’re purely for show, anyone who knows me knows that I cannot stand the feel of velvet, so making the bed is a very quick affair, but they look pretty, so who cares?
And the real stand out piece of my September haul and the pièce de résistance of my cosy corner – this absolutely stunning Himalayan Salt Lamp. It’s also one of my new favourite things that I own, I can’t get over the glow it gives off. The lamp has a dimmer switch, so you can choose how strong the glow is, subtle or powerful – either way, it’s absolutely beautiful. It also comes with a bulb included, so you can use it straight away, quite unusual for lamps nowadays! Salt lamps are believed to cleanse and deodorise the air, increase energy levels, improve sleep and improve mood and concentration – so not only is it stunning to look at, but it could help you mentally, and who doesn’t need a bit of help from time to time?
