Christmas, yeah I said it… it’s coming whether you like it or not! It’s under 100 days away now, which basically means it’s time for Michael Buble to start defrosting from his Summer slumber and begin his worldwide takeover once again and I’m not even gunna pretend that I’m not excited! I’ve been asked to take part in Matalans ‘Come dine with Matalan’ campaign and to talk through the way I’ll (read ‘my mum’ – cause I don’t have a dining table yet!) will be decorating the dining table throughout the festive season.
We’re going classy, understated but still festive. My parents kitchen/dining room has a few different grey tones, so I picked a ‘silver’ theme to compliment the existing colour scheme. I went onto Matalans Christmas shop and made my selection – I was a bit spoilt for choice, there’s some really lovely pieces on there – particularly these Scandi Stag plates – I might have to get these for my own house!
First up I picked these really classy, metallic rimmed dinner plates. The image on the website doesn’t show the festive trim, so that was a nice surprise! The perfect size for a ridiculous amount of pigs in blankets, stuffing, and all the gravy. We don’t really have starters for our Christmas dinner (other than loads of melted cheese and bread which is gone in about 3 minutes), but I couldn’t resist getting these beautiful metallic snowflake side plates – even if we don’t use them, they add another lovely festive touch to the set up. I also got the matching bowls to the dinner plates, again a really great size for the copious amounts of puddings that I consume over the festivities and the snowflake trim around the edge is beautifully Christmassy.
I also got the matching linen napkins, and after watching a mini tutorial on how to nicely fold said napkin, I think it looks really nice and elegant on top of the side plates – don’t you? And what’s Christmas without Champagne (Prosecco in our house)? These stunning ombre Flutes are my mums favourite bit out of the whole the collection, so classy and fancy – perfect for Christmas and New Year (but let’s not even go into the fact that it’s pretty much nearly January!).
I’m really pleased with how the whole set up turned out – this is my first time styling a dining table! Christmas will be at my parents as usual, so I’ll get to use these beautiful Christmassy dining pieces loaded with food and Prosecco and still feel fancy (even though I’ll be so full I might actually burst cause I have no self control when it comes to pigs in blankets…)
